Home Visits

Home visits enable our Occupational Therapists to analyse holistically the home environment and the impact it has the individuals abilities to complete their everyday activities. It also allows the therapists to observe the individual in a more natural environment and tailor treatment more accurately. Home visits are designed for your convenience as therapists can travel to you and provide an array of treatments.

What will home visits involved?

Home visit are often structured and follow a set treatment which has previously been discussed with you. Some of the aspects included in a home visit are as follows:

  • Observation of activities in natural environment
  • Advice and education
  • Occupational optimisation
  • Chance to discuss any concerns
  • One hour treatment session
  • Advice regarding equipment
  • Advice on safety within the home

Occupational optimisation is a term use by Occupational Therapists and describes the enhancement and improvement of function in daily activities such as washing, dressing, cooking and cleaning. The overall aim of a home visit is to provide effective treatment in the comfort of your own home.

Difficulties suitable for a home visit

Individuals can experience a wide variety of difficulties such as physical, social or psychological. Our home visits are suitable for the following difficulties:

  • Difficulties getting dressed
  • Difficulties preparing meals
  • Difficulties eating and drinking
  • Difficulties using the toilet and accessing facilities
  • Fatigues easily
  • Mobility difficulties

Our Occupational Therapists are highly skilled and knowledgeable and can help individual with the difficulties increase their overall independence and life satisfaction.

This is just a small summary of the condition suitable for a home visit; our Occupational Therapists will provide a home visit to individuals with conditions not listed above also.
