Our cognitive reports detail the level of cognitive functioning detected in an individual during their assessment. It will document where the individual's difficulties layfor example, memory recall, orientation, visuospatial or executive functioning and will offer recommendations on how to improve upon these.
Our Cognitive reports will outline the findings of the cognitive assessment carried out by one of our Occupational Therapists in will include information on the following:
Decision making is the mental processes of selecting a course of action from a set of alternatives. Every decision making process produces an outcome that might be an action, a recommendation, or an opinion. For an individual with a cognitive impairment, decision making can be something they find extremely difficult. Our Occupational Therapists can highlight this difficulty within the report and offer advice/ recommendations on how to improve an individual's decision making abilities and increase their overall independence.
Once information has been encoded and stored in memory, it must be retrieve in order to be used. Memory retrieval is important in virtually every aspect of daily life, from remembering where you parked your car to learning new skills. There are many factors that can influence how memories are retrieved from long-term memory. Our Occupational Therapists can offer practical solutions which are aimed at improve and individuals both long and short term memory.
Cognitive planning is one of the executive functions. It encompasses the neurological processes involved in the formulation, evaluation and selection of a sequence of thoughts and actions to achieve a desired goal.
Our cognitive reports will also provide further recommendations. This will include the type and aim of therapy, duration, location and aspects of therapy an individual may need in order to improve upon their cognition.
Each of our highly trained and experienced therapists can tailor the report to the individual's needs, offering specialised treatment goals to aid an individual participation in activities they want and need to complete.
