The gathering of information is a vital part of the Occupational Therapy process. Assessment allows for our Occupational Therapist to analyse in great detail how a condition or disability is impacting on an individual's ability to participate in everyday occupations. Our assessments also allow for interventions to be tailored to each individual and accurately target their main difficulties. Assessment can be completed wherever the individual requires, including at home, in the workplace and here in one of our clinics.

The purpose of an Occupational Therapy assessment

The main reasons why Occupational Therapists complete assessments include:

  • To identify concerns and how they impact upon daily occupations
  • To prioritise concerns
  • To observe individuals completing everyday tasks
  • Plan to improve function

All of our assessments are used to analyse how an individual completes their daily occupations, the result of which will be used to create a therapy plan best suited their needs.
